Activities
The Haute-Vienne is famous for its vast expanses of Chestnut forests and wildlife and is ideal for anyone who enjoys walking, fishing, bird watching or cycling. The area is also renowned for its beautiful lakes, quiet villages, excellent cuisine and woodland way-marked trails, one of which is only a few yards away from Carreau. The nearest leisure lakes are St Mathieu 7kms, St Estephe and Vidiex. All have man-made beaches and offer safe swimming with a variety of water sports and fishing. Carreau is within an hour's drive of the clifftop town of Angoulême, Limoges - noted for its fine porcelaine and Périgeux, the picturesque medieval capital of the Dordogne.

Eric and Tricia would like to welcome you to their Gîte which is part of a barn conversion offering self-catering accommodation,with its own garden and is set in four acres of garden and woodland, offering privacy and tranquillity. It is situated on the Haute-Vienne/Dordogne border in the beautiful Perigord-Limousin natural regional park.

There is a 10m x 6m swimming pool, which is shared with the owners, and for the energetic there is a table tennis table, garden badminton and a boules court. There is also a small private fishing lake for our guests to use.

Locality
The nearest village of Marval is a few minutes drive away, and has a bar/restaurant, post office, tabac/depot de pain. 7 kms away is the village of St. Mathieu that has a supermarket, 2 bakers, a bar/café plus a number of other shops, including a pharmacy and a doctor.

The towns of Nontron and Piégut are within 15/20 minutes drive, both having supermarkets and shops with markets one day a week, where an abundance of local produce may be bought. The lovely river town of Brantôme is within a 30 minute drive (take a kayak ride down the river - recommended). Follow the route of Richard the Lion Heart, who was fatally wounded at nearby Chalûs.

Prices and Booking Information

From £200 - £410
A 25% deposit is required on booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before the start of your holiday plus a deposit cheque of £50.00 (returnable).

All prices are per week from Saturday 4pm to Saturday 11am and include gas, electricity and linen except for pool towels.

The gîte is set in rural surroundings a few minutes drive from the village of Marval in a locality known as the Pays des Fueillardiers (the country of the woodcutters).

Ground Floor
• Open plan living area comfortably furnished with sofa bed, armchairs,CD player, TV and video.
• Dining area with table and chairs.
• Kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, coffee maker etc.

First Floor

• Bedroom 2 has a single bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
• Bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet and vanity unit.
